Join us for an enchanting evening of classical music as the multi-talented sisters Ania and Sophie Druml – visiting the US all the way from their hometown of Vienna, Austria, the classical music capital of the world – will present a captivating duo recital. This eclectic program will showcase the unique versatility of both musicians, who will perform in various instrumental combinations: piano duo, cello-piano, violin-piano, and violin-cello.

The Blind Boys Christmas Show mixes holiday standards with selections from their Grammy-winning holiday classic album, Go Tell It On The Mountain, as well as the spirited Talkin’ Christmas album. Gideon Freudmann performs live soundtracks for classic silent films with his cello and real-time digital effects. Working with a cello and an array of pedal effects, he creates elaborate sound textures, catchy melodies and exciting rhythms that beautifully enhance and energize the imagery of silent films.

The Jayanthi Raman Dance Company performs “Navarasa Kalinga Nartana,” a multimedia musical dance from India.
This dance production is unique in its concept, instrumentation, and choreography. The production showcases the theme of Navarasa – the nine moods codified in dance literature, Natya Sastra. Performed by Raman and company repertoire male and female dancers, this unique dance theater production takes us on a journey through a myriad of emotions, encompassing the nine moods or the navarasa. The theme is overlaid on the story of Lord Krishna’s battle and triumph over the snake Kalinga or Kaliya. The battle between the snake Kaliya and Lord Krishna has been told through many generations. Choreographed in classical Bharatha Natyam, and Chau classical dance styles, as well as traditional folk dances, the vibrant and energetic dance theater is accessible and suitable for all ages.

The film tells the improbable story of how Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who couldn’t get a job despite tying first in her graduating law class and making Law Review at Harvard and Columbia Law Schools, became an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.  It also reveals both the public and private sides of a resilient, resourceful woman who has survived the hostility of the profoundly male universe of government and law to become a revered Justice and advocate for gender equality and women’s rights.

At a moment when musical streams are crossing with unprecedented frequency, it’s crucial to remember that throughout its history, New Orleans has been the point at which sounds and cultures from around the world converge, mingle, and resurface, transformed by the Crescent City’s inimitable spirit and joie de vivre. Nowhere is that idea more vividly embodied than in the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which has held the torch of New Orleans music aloft for more than 60 years, all the while carrying it enthusiastically forward as a reminder that the history they were founded to preserve is a vibrantly living history.

PHJB marches that tradition forward once again on So It Is. The album redefines what New Orleans music means today by tapping into a sonic continuum that stretches back to the city’s Afro-Cuban roots, through its common ancestry with the Afrobeat of Fela Kuti and the Fire Music of Pharoah Sanders and John Coltrane, and forward to cutting-edge artists with whom the PHJB have shared festival stages from Coachella to Newport, including legends like Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello and the Grateful Dead and modern giants like Beck, The Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket, and the Black Keys.

For more than six decades, The Beach Boys’ music has been an indelible part of American history. Their brilliant harmonies conveyed simple truths through sophisticated, pioneering musical arrangements. The Beach Boys transcended their music and have come to represent Californian culture. They provided fans around the world with a passport to experience love, youthful exuberance, and surf culture.

Founded in Hawthorne, California in 1961, The Beach Boys were originally comprised of the three teenaged Wilson brothers: Brian, Carl, and Dennis, their cousin Mike Love, and school friend Al Jardine. The Beach Boys signed with Capitol Records in July 1962 and released their first album, Surfin’ Safari, that same year.

The Beach Boys are one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful bands of all time, with over 100 million records sold worldwide. Between the 1960s and today, the group had over 80 songs chart worldwide, 36 of them in the US Top 40 (the most by a US rock band), and four topping the Billboard Hot 100. Their influence on other artists spans musical genres and movements. Countless artists have cited Pet Sounds as their inspiration for creating their own musical masterpieces.
