The Marshall Tucker Band
September 20th | 7:45 PM
Presenting with RJK EntertainmentThe Marshal Tucker Band came together as a young, hungry, and quite driven six-piece outfit in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1972, having duly baptized themselves with the name of a blind piano tuner after they found it inscribed on a key to their original rehearsal space — and they’ve been in tune with tearing it up on live stages both big and small all across the globe ever since. Plus, the band’s mighty music catalog, consisting of more than 20 studio albums and a score of live releases, has racked up multi-platinum album sales many times over. A typically rich MTB setlist is bubbling over with a healthy dose of hits like the heartfelt singalong “Heard It in a Love Song,” the insistent pleading of “Can’t You See” (the signature tune of MTB’s late co-founding lead guitarist and then-principal songwriter Toy Caldwell), the testifying “Fire on the Mountain,” the wanderlust gallop of “Long Hard Ride,” and the explosive testimony of “Ramblin,’” to name but a few.

His imaginative, original accompaniment breathes new life into this classic art, bringing the best of cinema and live music to another level and to new audiences.
In Sherlock Jr., Buster Keaton is a movie projectionist who dreams of being great detective. This brilliant film-within-a-film is clever, funny, and timeless. Keaton’s physical antics as well as his cinematic story-telling genius are on full display in this amazing 1924 film.

Ballet Idaho
November 2nd | 7:30 PM
Ballet Idaho is thrilled to be presenting an anthology of work at The Argyros this November. The program will be stylistically diverse and provide an intimate showcase for the artistry and athleticism of Ballet Idaho’s dancers.Congruence was jointly choreographed by Anne Mueller and Garrett Anderson, set to the music of Chicago-based composer, Marc Mellits. This piece is an exploration of creative synergy and collaboration between two choreographers, the talented performers, and Mellits’ nuanced musical phrasing.
Terrance Marling’s Twice (Once) is set to the gorgeous music of contemporary composer Anna Clyne’s Within Her Arms. This is a subtle yet stirring piece that contemplates the afterlife, drawn from personal experiences of both composer and choreographer. Clyne wrote this piece of music honoring the passing of her mother, and Marling’s response drew upon his own near-death experience as a child. While the inspiration explores images of mortality and afterlife, this work is an uplifting and poignant abstraction of the human spirit.
Danielle Rowe created For Pixie, inspired by the life and love of her own grandparents. In this powerful duet to the music of Nina Simone’s Wild is the Wind, Rowe explores the emotional interdependence between two lifelong companions embodied in captivating visual images and raw physicality.
The company will close the performance with Justin Peck’s heralded Pulcinella Variations set to the jubilant and complex music of Igor Stravinsky. The score feels classical, yet peppered with mirth and humor, providing an energetic pulse to Pecks' similarly intricate choreography. Originally created for the New York City Ballet, this work exemplifies the dynamic range technical invention and virtuosity that Peck is famous for and Ballet Idaho dancers exemplify so well.
